The Fluke 88V has improved measurement functions, trouble-shooting features and accuracy to solve more problems on conventional and hybrid vehicles. The 88V is the most powerful automotive multimeter ever offered by Fluke. In addition to having all standard multimeter features like the ability to measure voltage, current, continuity, and resistance, the 88V can perform diode test and pulse width measurements.

This meter can take current measurements up to 20 A for 30 seconds and 10 A continuously. The optional magnetic hanger lets you attach the meter to most steel surfaces for easy set-up and viewing. The 88V is designed to be used in high energy environments like those found on hybrid vehicles.

Measures

  • Resistance, continuity and diode test
  • Millisecond pulse width measurements for fuel injectors
  • Frequency to 200 kHz and % duty cycle
  • Measure up to 1000 V AC and DC
  • Measure current up to 10 A, 20 A for up to 30 seconds
  • 4 ½ digits for precise measurements
  • RPM measurements with included inductive pickup
  • Temperature measurements with optional temperature probe

Specs say it will measure RPM. Does the required probe come with this? If not what is the P/N for it?

Asked by: Greesmonky
The Fluke 88V can measure RPM by either using the test leads and connecting them to a RPM sensor or using the RPM80 accessory and clamp around a spark plug cable. The part number for the RPM80 is “880849.”

Does this 88v have true rms? Is that not critical between home and automotive diagnostics? Looking to cover both needs with one meter

Asked by: Mje22
No, the Fluke-88V is not a True RMS meter. Since automotive measurements are typically only made on DC circuits a true-RMS meter is not necessary. Similarly, the AC circuits in homes are normally clean and without distorted waveforms. Typical examples of workloads where a true-RMS meter is recommended would be variable-speed motor drives, electronic ballasts, computers, and HVAC systems.

Is there a master list of accessories that are compatible with this meter? Specifically the i410 AC/DC current clamp. Also would be interested in a phototach and different temp probes.
